I don’t know if I have ever been in a place with so many talented, crafty, DIYers in one place before in my life. There was even more stuff that we just didn’t manage to see and we can’t wait to go back next year.  I think the botton above by Sean says it all. For more pictures click the mosaic.

After a gray and chilly weekend, the weather finally warmed up today and it was wonderfully sunny. We took the chance to head outside and discover the Oakland Municipal Rose Garden which is just a few minuets away. Most of the roses are now past their peak bloom time but there where still lots of beautiful blooms to appreciate and smell.

This weekend I went on a fun trip to the Oakland Zoo with Will and my old college roomie Carrie. We had a blast. The zoo is small, at least compared to the zoo’s of my childhood LA and San Diego, but it is actually really nice because it is small. I have never felt such a great sense of community at a zoo and because it is Earth Day on Tuesday there where all kinds of fun stuff for kids and even for the animals. We easily got to see all the animals in one day and for the most part didn’t have to push though crowds to have any chance of seeing the animals. It is also only 10 minutes away, can’t beat that! Sorry not much has been going on here at the blog, my folks came to visit as well as old friends so things have been a little crazy and all my down time has been spent re-coping in between invasions. But there is good news, we are getting internet at home again so posting will no longer have to be squeezed into my lunch on breaks at work so there should be more posting soon!

The photos above are from a trip to the Point Reyes Lighthouse that my folks and I made while they where here. My Dad and I made the 302 stair climb down to the lighthouse and back ending up mostly in one piece. It was a beautiful day and is very much worth the visit if you are in the area.

I have been feeling the sense of fall in the air so here is a bit of autumn for you to enjoy this week before Thanksgiving.

Last night was spent listening to election coverage on the radio (we don’t get TV channels), it was rather nostalgic in a way.

We now have the first BLACK President of the United States, it has been a long time coming. I will admit, I was hoping for Hilary in the primaries, mostly, I will admit because I want to live to see the first women president but either way it is a great victory for Civil Rights and Equality. I am proud to be an American again.

Sadly, it looks like Prop 8 has passed, but that fight is not over yet, with luck they will at least uphold the marriages that occurred over the summer.

Tonight I will celebrate with my knitting group, a cup of coffee and a piece of tiramisu.
